It is mid September and, as usual, things are changing a bit with the cooler fall weather. It has been getting down into the mid to low 20's just before sunrise but into the Mid 70's by 10:00. The water levels are still surprisingly good, all things considered. The Trico hatch is still getting going around 8:00, although it seems that it is beginning to wane. You will see the #22 Trico spinners start at around 8:30 or 9 and the fish will key on them as long as they last, usually about an hour now. The Caddis migration is still pretty good and is starting at around ?Į8:30 and you will see them throughout the day, sizes #18-22. The PMD's are finally over. Look for the BWO's (#'s 18-22) anywhere from 9 on. We should start to see really good Beatis hatches start soon. The afternoons have seen decent Hopper action, specially if it's windy and don't hesitate to try a Beatle or an Ant.
The Caddis hatch has been O.K. in the afternoon , depending on the wind. The ?Įfish will change what they are feeding on as quickly as the hatch changes, so be ?Įready to change your fly a lot. The fish are getting a lot wiser as we are getting ?Įinto the later part of our season. There are still plenty of quality fish on the ranch, ?Įthey are just getting a little tougher to catch. Practice up on your "getting the fish ?Įout of the weeds" skills. We have all of the flies that you will need in our fly shop ?Įas well as fishing shirts, fly lines, leaders, nets, tippet and most anything else that ?Įyou might need. The fishing is good and we can't wait to see you here at the ?Įranch!
