About Eastern Sierra Fish Reports

Eastern Sierra Fish Reports (ESFR) is a specialized platform created for anglers fishing along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Since 2000, we’ve been providing comprehensive fishing reports for the Eastern Sierra region, covering Southern, Central, and Northern areas across Eastern California and Western Nevada.

Although part of the Sportfishing Report network, our site operates under its own domain, dedicated to the unique needs of the Eastern Sierra fishing community. We offer timely fish reports for the main bodies of water along the Eastern Sierra, detailed maps to help anglers explore popular fishing locations, and updates on recent fish stocking.

Our Founder

Chad Woods

Chad Woods, the founder of ESFR, grew up in Southern California and attended Crespi High School in Encino. He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1990 with a degree in Finance. Following his studies, Chad worked as a computer consultant before launching Sportfishing Report in 2000. In 2015, he expanded the platform with Eastern Sierra Fish Reports, a dedicated domain focused on the region’s fishing needs.

Chad’s passion for fishing began at June Lake, CA, where his grandparents had a cabin. He spent his summers exploring the June Lake Loop, developing a deep appreciation for the area that ultimately inspired him to create ESFR. Today, the site continues to serve as a trusted resource for anglers in the region.

Looking Ahead

Eastern Sierra Fish Reports has become a valuable resource for marinas, tackle shops, and fishing guides, distributing fishing information throughout the region. We are excited to introduce a new feature allowing anglers to share photos from their fishing trips directly on our website. This update is currently being tested and is expected to launch for the 2025 fishing season opener. Stay tuned for more details as the release date approaches!
