South Lake anglers saw a slight decrease in fish counts this week due to a no-show by the DFG stocking truck but the Alpers Rainbows and Browns still came to play. Thankfully there are also quite a few pan-sized holdover rainbows left to fill folks' stringers. Fishing behind the Island at the lake is still producing some good fishing on Rainbow or Orange Powerbait and Nightcrawlers. Lure tossers are having their best luck on the Rock Slide or near the dam on the west shore. Red & Gold Thomas Bouyants continue to be your best bet for scoring on lures. Fly and a bubble combo fished in the evenings has been another very productive technique over the last week. Mosquito or Adams patterns in size 18 or 20 have been consistent producers. South Lake Boat Landing is working securing another load of trophy 'bows and Browns for the lake and we're hoping to get them in the water by weeks end.
