South Lake anglers experienced a solid bite last week following the Alpers Rainbow and Brown plants on June 29th. Anglers were also excited because there is finally access to the area behind the island and fishing at the inlets lived up to expectations producing quite a few chunky Alpers and browns. The Alpers are coming out primarily on Berkley Powerworms in natural or the Rainbow Powerbait dough. Red & Gold Thomas Bouyants is really lighting it up right now for trollers and lure tossers. Larry Urbanski nailed a 5lb 10oz Alper on a rainbow powerbait from a boat near the damn. Friends Brent Theobald and Mike Duffy scored a pair of nice fish near the back of the lake. Brett nailed a rainbow that weighed in at 5lbs 9oz using a thomas bouyant and Mike caught a 1lb 8oz Brown on a trout trap.
