The hills are alive with oranges, yellows, and reds - almost looks like flames climbing the mountains. Absolutely beautiful. The water`s dropped a bit over the last couple of weeks, so Rick`s taken the docks apart although the water is still on the cement launch ramp.
Fishing was off and on this week - one day good then next not so good or maybe we should say there was a bit more time to enjoy the colorful scenery around the lake. On the good days, the ticket was fishing the inlets with PowerBait and eggs or the rock piles with PowerBait and worms. Shore anglers were using PowerBait and worms while the trollers were using flashers with a worm. Olive wooly buggers and a bubble were working as well.
The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Tuesday with pan-size fish and a few fish tipping the scales at 2-pounds. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish. We ask that you all be real careful this year and remember Smokey`s Motto - "Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires!"
The caf?? will close for the season on Monday, October 15, 2007.
The Forestry has closed the following campgrounds for the season - North Lake, Sabrina Camp and Willow campground.
Nimrod was back up in the tree he fell out of a month ago - this time he got down safely and he hasn`t fallen in the lake lately, so maybe he`s growing up. Hi and Lo have both recovered from the pack trip and I finally warmed up.
The temps have fluctuated a bit over the past week. We`ve got the wood stove going on those cool mornings. The temps on Friday were in the low 60`s for the highs and low 30`s for the lows. Saturday, we got up to 50s. Wind came up on Thursday and has been with us off and on. We had wind gusts up to 44mph, but no rain or snow. That`s predicted for Friday.
Remember, the campgrounds tend to be a bit on the cooler side as they sit down in the canyon by the stream you all like to have running by your camp. ??
We have our fleet of green fishing boats, 2 kayaks for rent along with a canoe and the Party Boat (pontoon boat) which has propane BBQ for those wanting to fry up some burgers or hot dogs with out on the lake and keep on fishing.
We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.
Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case.
