The winds earlier in the week brought in some cool temperatures along with maybe helping the Aspen leaves get a move on with the changing of the colors. Almost daily now there is another grove of Aspens or willows lighting up Bishop Creek Canyon with yellows, oranges and some reds and with the back-drop of the blue sky and fluffy white clouds - who could ask for anything more. We hear we could get our first dusting of snow in the back-country on Wednesday and Thursday - and, yes, Rick and I are still scheduled to go in Monday morning bright and early.

Fishing this week was on the fair side. You all should pretty much know what works where, but for those of you needing a refresher - at the Dingleberry Inlet - worms, eggs and PowerBait. The trollers were using flashers and worms or lead-core line with a red and gold Thomas Buoyant at 5 colors. Those drifters (remember the gals from last week?) were still bringing in the most fish using worms or PowerBait (what better way to enjoy the lake, but drifting quietly across it - watching the leaves change color). PowerBait was used by the shore anglers.

The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Tuesday with pan-size fish and a few fish tipping the scales at 2-pounds. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish. We ask that you all be real careful this year and remember Smokey`s Motto - "Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires!"

The temperatures dropped a bit from last week down to the mid 60s during the day and to the low 40s in the evening. As Rick likes to put it - "We live in the tropics here at Lake Sabrina". Where we were 46 degrees one morning last week, South Lake was 32 degrees. The campgrounds tend to be a bit on the cooler side as they sit down in the canyon by the stream you all like to have running by your camp. Heard Howard`s weather guesses for the coming week - as I said earlier - a dusting of snow in the forecast.

Our anniversary trip was delay a day (going in Monday), up over Piute pass to Muriel Lake and Golden Trout Lake to fish for some Goldens. I`m sure Rick will get some good pictures of our trip and I`ll try and get them on the website before my monthly trip south. I`ll be riding one of Mike and Tess Ann Morgan`s Bishop Pack Outfitters mules while Rick walks in with Hi and Lo. Several other mules will bring in all my comforts of home.

Nimrod must have been a bit on the hungry side this week when he caught a mouse - cuz` down it went. Nims will be staying behind this trip into the back-country, but Hi and Lo will be tromping in with Rick.

We have our fleet of green fishing boats, 2 kayaks for rent along with a canoe and the Party Boat (pontoon boat) which has propane BBQ for those wanting to fry up some burgers or hot dogs with out on the lake and keep on fishing.

We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.

Our summer hours are 7:00am to 7:00pm. The cafe will be serving Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch from 11:00am to 4:00pm everyday at least through Labor Day.

Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case.
