The Fishing at Silver Lake in the June Lake Loop has stayed very steady over the past week with lots of smaller DFW fish being brought in thanks to another load of 800 pounds by DFW on Monday. We have also seen some great fish weighing in at 2 to 4 pounds as well.
The weather is starting to cool down with some nice evenings which should also help to continue the good fishing in the area. Berkley Products have continued to be the hot tickets with Mice Tails and Power Baits being the most consistent. Rainbow Glitter Garlic, Salmon Egg Red, Garlic and Sherbet have seen some great results this past week. Thomas Buoyant Gold Red and Rainbow patterns have also done very well. Streamers near the surface should also start to show some good results as the weather continues to cool over the next few weeks, look for an Olive Matuka, a Green Wooly Bugger or a Rainbow Hornberg to show some promise. If you are a fly fisherman or like using a fly and a bubble, look at using a Grey hackle Peacock, a Sierra Bright Dot or a Yellow Humpy at the far end of Silver Lake for some good results.
We should be expecting a our weekly load of DFW fish early in the week and a load of Alper's either end of this week or the beginning of next week, so fishing should continue to stay good.
Photos of the Fish Of The Week:
Pictured Above: Natasha and Kayla Whitcomb of Ojai each landed some nice Rainbows with Natasha's weighing in at 2 pound 1 ounce and Kayla's weighing in at 1 pound 4 ounces. Both girls caught their nice fish on worms.
Photo #1: Howard Fairchild of Newhall has been slaying Grant Lake lately, and this week he keep his good luck going catching a nice 3 pound 3 ounce Rainbow from his float tube using his own version of a "Howie Bugger" (Pic 1)
Photo #2: Bob Miller of Brea brought in a 2 pound 4 ounce Rainbow from shore using a Gold/Red Thomas Buoyant (Pic 7)
Photo #3: Joe Davis of Newport Beach was up working the area for Berkley Products and caught a nice 3 pound 4 ounce Rainbow using a Berkley Mice Tail (Pic 10)
Happy Fishing and Good Luck!!
