Howdy folks!
We’ve been a little quiet on the social media front as of late for a couple of reasons. First, we don’t really have as much information as we’d like, so there hasn’t been much to say.
We’re waiting on a lot of key information that will set a lot of things in motion. Like the reservoir forecasts we get from Edison for Lake Sabrina & South Lake, stocking information from Department of Fish & Wildlife and the weather has been wildly inconsistent so speculating on the conditions has been impossible which makes planning even a ballpark open date for boat rentals impossible. One day it’s 65 and sunny, the next it is 30 with 50mph winds, and the next we get 4” of snow. Truly a mixed bag.
Ok….so now that excuses are out of the way, here is what we do know as of today. This is all we know at the moment but we will surely have a lot more detail to share in a weeks time.
- [ ] Lake Sabrina is ice free. The water is quite low, which isn’t unusual for the spring, but it’s lower than average. Shore access should be good if the weather holds out. More on that next week
- [ ] HWY 168 is currently closed at the winter closure but the road will be open to the lake by opener barring any unforeseen storms that might cause an avalanche risk.
- [ ] South Lake road is currently closed just above Bishop creek lodge but it is clear of snow all the way to the lake and Inyo County plans to open it to the public prior to next weekend
- [ ] North Lake road is clear but the gate has not been opened yet. It is very likely that the gate will be open to the public by Fishmas if the weather holds our. More on that next week.
- [ ] After a week of maintenence, Intake 2 is full again. Edison nearly drained it and it kinda freaked us out for a minute. But it was full today so crisis averted it would seem.
- [ ] We have not seen a stocking truck in the canyon yet. This is not unusual but we sure hope we see them by this time next week
- [ ] We have A LOT of stuff to do to get prepared for our new adventure at Lake Sabrina so with Seth and myself working like crazy to get our ducks in a row, we will NOT be available to open the shop to the public opening weekend. You all will be the first to know when we have an opening date.
We’ll have more updates as the information becomes available.
