Looks like the new Fishmas is June 1st this year. The Lake was ice-free as of yesterday, but there is still a bit of snow around the Lake.
We got moved up on Friday, April 24th and watched numerous avalanches across from the Lake. Now we’re listening for rockslides – the ground is still so moist there’s no dust rising so they are pretty hard to see.
We had a coyote in the parking lot the other morning and we’ve heard of a bear roaming Aspendell and a couple of mountain lions in Big Pine. And the Eagles are still flying! Dwayne and Jesse saw a herd of 8 deer down by Intake 2 so take it easy coming up that road. And the road up to Lake Sabrina is open. Sounds like the work on the South Lake road will begin next week.
The Forest Service campgrounds are still closed as are the restrooms at the Lake. The motels are currently closed for short term stays.
We are revamping one of the pontoons with new furniture and we should have that ready to go when things open up. Still jumping thru the Inyo County hoops, so not sure if the kitchen will be open on June 1st. Stay tuned.
Can’t wait to see you all this summer. Please remember to bring what you need for your stay as our markets are still on the lean side with essentials. K-Mart closed their doors in February so that’s one less store.
Take care and stay healthy!!!
Juanita, Rick, Patti, Dwayne, Jesse and Matt
