Fishing's getting better. It might be due to the Alpers stocked by Inyo County on Monday for the BISHOP CREEK CANYON FALL CLASSIC. Read about the derby below. DFG stocked a few fish on Tuesday.

The Colors are starting - here and there patches of yellows are starting to appear in the canyon. Across from the landing, Aspens are beginning the annual turn ??? soon the slopes will be dotted with yellows, golds, oranges and reds and the lakes rimmed with the same brilliant colors. (Am I making you want to see them up close and personal?)

The dropping of the lake has slowed, but we do continue to drop. It's the nature of a reservoir. Now onto fishing. Fishing the inlets with Salmon Eggs, NightCrawlers, PowerBait or Gulp (especially Chunky Cheese) brought in several limits as did trolling flashers and worms or wooly buggers. Those wanting to try lead core ??? 4 colors seemed about the right depth. Drifting NightCrawlers or PowerBait/Gulp or just still fishing around the rock piles. Shore anglers should try a NightCrawler and bobber or just PowerBait/Gulp. Greg Lee of Newbury Park landed a nice 4-1/3 pounder on a brown wooly bugger, while Jacob Dougherty of Garden Grove brought in a 4-3/4 pounder on a JER-KIT lure (gray wormy-wiggly-looking thing with lead in the head).

Temperatures have cooled a tad so hopefully the fish will start to come up. Not sure what's in store for us next week. Some weather guessers are saying rain on Monday ??? Howard says no precipitation for the next 5 ??? 7 days. WHO KNOWS! You may want to check it out your favorite weather guesser or try Howard's forecast at www.MammothWeather.com.

Did you notice the awesome pictures of the OSPREY, Rick got? Not only do we have the Osprey (and maybe 2), but we've heard of sightings of the Bald Eagle at the back of the lake (from a very reliable source). WAY COOL! In the picture of the Osprey with his wings extended ??? notice the fish in his talons. Again ??? WAY COOL!

Not much to report on the animals ??? Lo the Lion is getting lots of attention with his lion cut. Nimrod is still catching varmints and being scarce. Hi continues to chew up sticks and fish. The life of the animals at the Lake.

Remember your sunscreen, dark glasses and bug juice as we still have a few of those pesky skeeters around. PONCHOS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED THIS WEEKEND - YOU NEVER KNOW!

ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !
REMEMBER, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE,WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT
ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!
