The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), the Delta Stewardship Council's Science Program and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries) will conduct a fish predation workshop on Central Valley salmonids on July 22 and 23, 2013 at the UC Davis Conference Center.

The workshop is part of a broader effort to understand the role of predation in the Bay-Delta watershed while providing objective information and scientific knowledge for future project planning.

An independent science panel of international experts in the disciplines of anadromous fishes, Bay-Delta hydrodynamics, predator-prey relations, bioenergetics, fish population dynamics and modeling and fish ecology has been assembled to review published scientific articles and agency reports, hear presentations on the latest science and ask questions of presenters.

Following the workshop the independent science panel will prepare a written response to questions asked when the panel was convened and prepare recommendations for further studies.

More details and background materials for this event may be found online at www.dfg.ca.gov/erp/predation.asp.
