Fishing this week remained on the slow side - perhaps due to the full moon. Those anglers with a bit of persistence and patience were still bringing out limits. The weather remained unseasonable warm for this time of year - temperatures remained in the high 60s to low 70s with clouds coming in in the afternoon. We did have a few sprinkles on Friday afternoon.
Salmon eggs and nightcrawlers are still the most productive baits working at the inlet.. Rainbow PowerBait is what`s working around the shore. Trolling worms or lures with a bit of red on them brought out several limits. Rick and I finally got out on the lake Thursday afternoon and trolled the shoreline with a swivel, split-shot and worm and caught lots of fish.
Only one big fish was fished out of the lake this week: Jeremy Mueller of Wrightwood landed a nice 5 pounder using an olive wooly bugger.
The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Friday with pan-size fish. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish.
The weather at the lake was absolutely spectacular. The temperatures have been in the low 70s and in the high 40`s for the low. Not sure what the weather is expected to be for next week, as Howard from MammothWeather is on vacation. You may check out the weather at www.MammothWeather.com and see if some of his 'Dweebs` submitted a weather report. The skeeters are out, but not too bad this week. Don`t forget the bug juice! ! ! ??All campgrounds are now open for your camping pleasure.
A bit of bad news and good news. Our new kitty D~O~G would not be caught when it was time to come in and did not return in the morning. So we now have a new kitten - NIMROD (which was the great-grandson of Noah and also a great and devoted hunter). We hope NIMROD lives up to his name.
We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.
We have gone to our summer hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. The cafe will be serving Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch from 11:00am to 4:00pm everyday at least through Labor Day.
Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case.
If you have any questions, send an email to [email protected] or give us a call at 760-873-7425. ??If you are receiving duplicate emails, let me know and I'll remove one or all of them and if you just can't stand receiving the beautiful pictures and fishing news, just let me know and I'll remove yours.
If you make your boat rental reservations by email, do not assume that your reservation is confirmed until you received an email back from us.
??You may have noticed there is no rhyme or reason as to when you get my emails or what address you may receive it from. I apologize to you all, you can thank MSN and Verizon. Hopefully by next week, we will have things back to normal and you will be receiving your email regularly.
