Water Conditions
The Truckee River has slightly discolored water due to recent rain. Overall, the water flows are good, and there are some hatches of blue-winged olives and midges. The weather has been consistently cold and snowy over the past week. While mornings will continue to be cold, the afternoons are expected to warm up a bit in the upcoming week. 75 CFS is out of Lake Tahoe, 232 CFS is through the town of Truckee, 469 CFS is below Boca Reservoir, and 530 CFS is at the state line.
Tips for the Week
Recent dry fly fishing has been quite successful. Using 5x leaders and small flies has been effective. Indicator nymphing with midges and BWO in the slower runs is also producing good results.
Suggested Flies or Lures
Some fly favorites to try on the Truckee River this week are juju baetis #18, zebra midge #20, pats rubber legs #12, parachute adams size 18, grizzly midge size 20.
