June is probably the most overlooked month at Pyramid Lake. In late April and early May we see the crowds pretty much disappear, and in our heads it is hard to figure out why. Especially this season as we are having a huge inflow from the Truckee River, so water level is up and the temps are just great.
As of this writing we are seeing surface temps around 66 degrees, however the trout have pushed down into a comfortable thermocline in the 20ft range...and not to mention the southern end of the lake you can find even cooler water temps. Trout are hitting a variety of things right now, everything from big meaty jigs to midges. We are having a blast at Pyramid Fly Co on our Watermasters utilizing special techniques to get to the trout, and boy, has it been productive. We have had days recently where client groups of 3-4 are smacking upwards of 100 fish.
So now is the time to book your June trip with Pyramid Fly Co before the season comes to an end at midnight on June 30th. Give us a call at 877.732.3597 and LET'S GO!!
