Early spring flows on the Carson are at about 250 cfs and fishing has been good. This will likely change as runoff intensifies. Fishing can really be hit or miss this time of year. Expect stocking to pick up again in the next few weeks as flows come down. It’s good to keep in mind that dark flies and lures are easier for fish to locate when the water is off-color. Fly fisherman have been using large streamers dead drifted or high stick nymph methods in slower moving runs and pools. Spin fisherman using small spinners retrieved in deeper pools have caught a few good fish as well. Please be safe when wading high water in spring.
