Crowley Lake - Mammoth Lakes, CA (Mono County)

My good friend, & commercial fisherman Rick Kramer took a day off the briny to ride with Doug Rodricks. Looks like the browns are in great shape this spring!

Concentrations of fish can be found in several areas of the lake. Sandy Pt., McGee Bay, Hilton Bays, & Alligator Pt. have all been hot spots for the start of the season. Set your broken back midges, crystal tiger or zebra midges, & copper tiger midges suspended beneath your Under-cator a foot or less off the bottom in 14-19 feet. The aquatic bottom weeds are not yet a factor, & the fish are prowling on the mud looking for the larva. Use Gillies, crystal leeches, crystal emergers, or chironomid pupa patterns as your upper flies. The lake level is good, and we expect a strong season here.
