Lake Morena Fishing Report

Lake Morena County Park is located at 2550 Lake Morena Drive, Campo, CA 91906.
The lake is open from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. All boats need to be off the lake by
4:30pm.

• The current surface water temperature is approx. 49°F.
• Live bait-fish and crayfish are prohibited.
• CALIFORNIA STATE FISHING LICENSE IS REQUIRED

  • 1,200lbs of trout were stocked in the lake on 2/6/2025.
  • The lake is fully open for boating and fishing; we have relocated all of our docks backto the lowest part of the road.
  •  Bass and trout are being caught throughout the lake.
  • Lake depth is approx. 60 ft.
  • Boat rentals must be reserved by 12:00pm.
  • The lower boat launch is open. All vessels must pass a Quagga mussel inspection prior to launch

Best Spots
Catfish- Geezer Cove, Bass Cove
Trout- Horseshoe cove, Paradise Cove, Pumphouse Cove
Bass- Paraside Cove, Geezer Cove, North shoreline
Panfish/ Carp- Horseshoe Cove, Geezer Cove (Panfish) + Geezer Cove(Carp)

Best Lures/Baits
Catfish- Mackerel, Bonito, Nightcrawlers, chicken liver
Trout- Powerbait, nightcrawlers, mini jigs, kastmasters
Bass- Swimbaits, plastics, crank baits, jigs
Panfish/Carp- Mealworms & nightcrawlers (panfish) + dough balls, corn (Carp)

Catch Highlights

Catfish- Catfish bite has slowed down with cooler temperatures.

Trout- Trout season has begun. We stocked 4,800lbs of trout between 11/14/2024-2/6/2025.

Bass- Bass bite has declined up with cooler temperatures.

Panfish/Carp- Bluegill bite has declined with cooler temperatures
